Cemetery News

There are rules in effect regarding placements and plantings at gravesites, and the Cemetery Staff passes on this note:

With the mowing season upon us, we would like to remind you of some restrictions in effect for safety purposes at our cemeteries. Any type of glass or other fragile/breakable material is not allowed, and will be removed. No fencing, edging or decorative stone shall be placed around markers or monuments. Also, please remember that you must keep your plantings and placements within 18 inches of the west side of monument/marker. If you are unsure about placements for your loved ones grave, feel free to contact Sexton Mac Donnelly at 655-3193 for more information.

Memorial Day at Summit Cemetery

For over ten years, Williamstown Township residents Ralph and Gerry Shuck have spent time teaching their Boy Scout Troop #63 the meaning of Memorial Day. Each May the couple assists the troop in placing small American flags on the grave site of each fallen soldier buried at Summit Cemetery. Through the meticulous process of locating each site, the Troop learns about the individual men and women who have fought for our freedom. The flags remain until September 11th. The Township wishes to thank Ralph and Gerry Shuck and the boys of Troop #63 for their community service efforts.
